Dimapur, Oct. 26 (EMN): An Ao community group the Dimapur Mangmetong Senso Telongjem celebrated its golden jubilee on October 26 at the Imliyanger Memoral Centre in Dimapur.
Addressing the occasion, associate pastor at Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo, I Zulu Jamir, said that the Naga people ‘might be still living in confusion’ the way they used to during the past recent decades.
Jamir said that the Nagas should not be reluctant to keep their dreams ‘as long as we have God.’ The bridge between their dreams and goals can be filled only through hard work, determination and keeping God ahead of them.
‘In this fast-changing world, we are loaded with different types of information around us and one cannot digest it and due to this factor leads to anxiety and depression,’ he asserted.
According to a survey he said to have conducted in Kohima, ‘out of 100 candidates, 36 have been affected by high level of anxiety and 16 by bi polar depression, especially in the youth,’ he said.
Another issued that the talked about was that of Nagaland being termed the state in the country with the second highest number of registered societies and unions. He lamented that many of these unions were not beneficial for the people.
Another issue he said was the present generation being that of ‘rebellion.’ This character of the people can be seen through social media platforms, where people ‘vent their anger and frustration.’
The church leader referred also to the Naga Students’ Federation’s not ‘partaking in the ongoing Naga peace talks.’ He reminded that the youths should express their concerns and take into account the voices of the youths as well.
‘Vision cannot be taught, it is caught,’ he said.
Jamir urged the gathering not to forget their roots. He urged them to always remember that they are believers in God.
