  • KOHIMA — Three weeks after the Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) and Nagaland NET Qualified Forum (NNQF) called off their agitation over regularisation of 147 assistant professors and librarians, the CTAN is now demanding termination of a casual appointee serving as an inspector under the Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection (LM&CP).

  • The CTAN alleged that because of the casual employee, who holds temporary Personal Information Management System (PIMS) number T4-LMP00007, a rightful and qualified candidate was denied PIMS.

  • The qualified candidate, who cleared NPSC in 2024, was denied salary for months because of being denied PIMS number, CTAN convenor Meshenlo Kath said.

  • Kath also disclosed that the casual appointee is still seeking contract extension with the department despite his contract having expired on April 30 this year.

  • In a letter dated May 19 to the Secretary of LM&CP, the association pointed out that the casual employee was appointed on Dec. 15, 2022, and has been given extension on several occasions, the last being on Feb. 10, 2025, which expired on April 30, 2025.

  • “It is to be noted that casual appointee are for six months/one year or until the posts are filled through NPSC,” the letter reminded.

  • Demanding immediate termination of the casual appointee (T4-LMP00007), the CTAN also insisted that no extension of service should be given to the employee.

  • “Failure to comply with demand within the next 30 days, name of person will be made public and further take a democratic step for the rights of Naga aspirants,” the letter added.
