Imphal, April 29 (EMN): Two-day training programme on “combating wildlife trafficking” is underway at the conference hall of the Forest department in Imphal.
The training programme which began on Monday is being jointly organised by Wildlife wing of Forest department with Bangaluru based Wildlife Conservation Society and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, Ministry of Environment, Fortest and Climate Change.
The inaugural programme was attended by the additional chief secretary of Forest and EWnvironment, Dr. Suhel Akhtar, principal chief conservator of Forest and head of forest force Kereilhouvi Angami and former PCCF (wildlife) Assam DP Bankhwal.
Dr. Akhtar in his address expressed hope that materials distributed to the trainee officers would help in expediting the necessary activities in conserving the wildlife.
Stressing on the need to spread more awareness on the wildlife, the senior government official opined that important sections of the society including the people’s representatives should be known about the sustainable development while maintaining the biodiversity.
K Angami asked the trainees to have the committeemen while taking up the responsible activities in conserving the wildlife for a better and sustainable life.
“We would be able to achieve if we’ve the commitment,” he said.
