Kohima, Oct. 21 (EMN): The combat sports festival organised by 3E Nagaland is all set to take place at the Kohima local ground from Oct. 23.
The festival includes two segments - Naga wrestling and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). The five-day long festival will conclude on Oct. 27.
While the Nagaland Taekwondo League which was also scheduled to be held during the festival was cancelled, one of the coach informed that it was due to the upcoming 1st Northeast Olympic Games scheduled from Oct 24-28th. He informed that the team will be moving out on Oct. 23 to Imphal to take part in 12 disciplines under Nagaland Taekwondo Association.
Naga Wrestle Mania 7
Naga Wrestle Mania 7 (King Of The Ring Series 2018) is scheduled to begin from Oct. 23, starting at 10 am, which will be comprised of two categories, lightweight(74 kg and below) and heavyweight category (above 74 kg).
The two categories will undergo their respective preliminary rounds and after reaching the last 16, they will be clubbed together to play the 'King Of The Ring Championship'.
The cash prizes will be as follows, losing 16 - INR. 3000 each; losing 8- INR. 5000 each, losing 4 - INR 8000 each, fourth place - INR 15000, third place - INR 30000, runners-up - INR 60000, and King Of The Ring champion - INR. 1,20,000.
Some of the prominent wrestlers who will be taking part are reigning NWA champion Menuosetuo Yiese, reigning King Of The Ring and CWA champion Venuzo Dawhuo, reigning NagaWrestleMania heavyweight champion Dzieselatuo Keretsü, newest sensation and reigning ASA champion Kezhaseluo-o Pienyü, first ever heavyweight champion and veteran Khrievotuo Sekhose. Another attraction will be the only outsider Rahul Rai who weights 96 kg and is a top contender.
A total of 52 wrestlers including 34 light weight category and 18 heavy weight category will be taking part in the wrestling competition.
Mixed Martial Arts
The Mixed Martial Arts event under X1 Championship will be held on Oct. 26-27 starting at 5 pm daily.
This fighting championship is sanctioned by MMA India and 32 fighters from all over the country, a good number of which are from the NE region, particularly Nagaland, representing different gyms in Kohima and Dimapur, will take part in the event. Tickets for the MMA event is priced at INR. 100 for gallery and INR 200 for chair.
