Dimapur, Oct. 19 (EMN): Members, including children, of Island Colony in Dimapur cleaned their locality on Oct. 19 as part of what was informed to be the Dimapur Municipal Council’s initiative toward a ‘cleaner’ Dimapur.
The Island Colony Council issued a press release to the media on Thursday informing about the sanitation activity which was also an event that aimed at educating children about keeping their environs clean. Children in the age group 4-12 years took part in the event, the updates informed.
“The primary objective of involving children was to inculcate a sense of responsibility towards cleanliness and to spread awareness of the importance of clean environment among all the residents,” the council’s press release stated.
“The Island Colony Council were in a view that however little the small children could achieve during the drive, the sense of responsibility and role of every citizen instilled in the minds of those children through such exercises towards better environment would remain for the rest of their lives and help becoming better citizens.”
