DIMAPUR — Phek Government College and Pfutsero Government College organised their respective 40th annual parting social on May 5.
At Phek Government College, the function was held in the college auditorium with the deputy commissioner of Phek, Kumar Ramnikant, as the guest of honour, an update stated.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]The guest of honour, in his address, conveyed his best wishes to the outgoing students and encouraged them on four main key points: to never stop believing and to have confidence to face any challenges as failure; to never stop learning and to have consistency in learning; to build a good network in order to reach the destiny and, lastly, to become an entrepreneur and to not depend on government jobs alone.
Earlier, the programme commenced with an invocation by Zomunulu Vese and a welcome address delivered by the college’s principal, Dr. T Tiakaba Jamir. This was followed by release of the college annual magazine ‘Rhythmic Reveries’ by the guest of honour.
Speeches on behalf of the outgoing and junior students were delivered by Khruve Soho and Kuveduvo Vero respectively. A prayer for the outgoing students was pronounced by Dr. Levinu Sakhrie, assistant professor.
Meanwhile, Pfutsero Government College (PGC) also held its 40th parting social for the graduating class of 2023 on the theme ‘A sweet ending to a new beginning’ with the college’s principal, Dr. Bweyhunle Khing, as the guest speaker.
Dr. Khing encouraged the students to be positive in their thinking and to maintain a well-disciplined life. She also spoke on time management and advised the students to get rid of habits which may hamper them later in life and that the only key to success in life was hard work, an update informed.
Dr. Khing also released the 11th edition of the college annual magazine 2022-23 ‘Windowscape.’
Speeches on behalf of juniors and outgoing students were delivered by Wesede-u Kreo and Wekhro Lasushe respectively.
The Drama Club of the English department presented a skit on O Henrys’ “After Twenty Years,” and a farewell song for the outgoing students was presented by 4th semester students.
The programme concluded with teachers and students enthralling the crowd with songs, dances and entertainment.
