Kohima/ Dimapur, April 30 (EMN): As around 600 students of Kohima Science College in Jotsoma village would graduate this year, the college organised its 59th parting social for this batch at the college auditorium on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, advisor to the chief minister, Abu Metha, said that some of the finest gentlemen had come together to initiate the institution, which is now six decades old. Stating that the college has produced some of its best sons and daughters in Nagaland, he said they have grown to become builders of society and of the nation.
Metha also stressed on hard-work as the ultimate path to achieving success in life. He called upon the students to always keep in mind hard work even as they pursue further studies. “In life, there is no shortcut to success but hard work and dedication,” he added.
“As young students, everyone has big dreams and dreams of changing the world. Each one holds the aspiration of a better life,” he said while adding that those small decisions they make are going to change their lives. “These 600 students who are graduating today can change hundreds and thousands of minds in the future,” he added.
He further encouraged them to hold on to keep moving and never give up in life though they may face difficulties and challenges along the way. He further advised them to have confidence and be brave in making a path for the youngsters. He further conveyed best wishes to the graduating students and challenged them to change the world.
During the programme, the college felicitated outstanding students in various fields of extra-curricular activities, various competitions, and academics.
In a related programme, KROS College in Kohima held its annual social parting on April 30 for 2019-2022 batch on the theme "Vintage" with the president of Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), Kegwayhun Tep, as the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Tep called upon the outgoing students to be focused, consistent, and have a life blueprint in order to have a directed future.
Speeches were also delivered by Senchumthung Patton on behalf of the 6th semester and Thangchulo Semy, president of KCSU.
Other highlights of the programme included release of the college 5th annual magazine "Minerva" by the chairman of KROS Education Society, Kevisiezolie Suohu. Songs were presented by students of 2nd and 4th semester.
