Dimapur, November 25: A daylong seminar about health care was conducted at Peletkie village on November 25 by Peren Government College, in Peren district. The event was conducted under the aegis of the Research, Consultancy & Extension Cell of the college.
The resource person, Albert, vice-principal, enlightened the villagers with facts, and education about the causes and preventive measures for various common diseases. The diseases that he talked about included water / vector borne and airborne diseases, diabetes and cancers among others.
Albert impressed upon the gathering their correlation to healthy life styles, healthy food habits, sanitation, hygienic living, clean environment and safe drinking water, among others. He urged the villagers to avail the services of trained doctors rather than seek local quacks if they want timely diagnosis and treatment. He talked to them about the importance of early diagnosis and treatment of ailments also.
Further, the speaker urged the villagers to take measures to make the village the ‘cleanest of villages in the district.’ It will be disease-free and be a healthy village, he said.
The programmed also had a session for discussions.
Peren Government College has adopted Peletkie village for the year 2016-2017 and have already carried out various public welfare programmes there.
