Dimapur, Feb. 24 (EMN): Dimapur-based college C-Edge College observed International Mother Language Day on February 21.
The programme was conducted with “an aim to promote and create awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and preservation of multi- lingual,” (sic) the press release from the college on Sunday stated.
The speaker for the event, Kaiko Loli, assistant professor of the college’s history department talked about ‘the importance of preserving our mother language and promoting the linguistic diversity, richness of our language.’ Mother Tongues are the key to preserving “our cultural identity to provide a broader access to the global world,” he said.
During the event, the students sang various ethnic songs in various Naga dialects, the updates stated.
