Dimapur, Aug. 10 (EMN): The Mon district administration has signed a memorandum of understanding with an institute to set up a skill training centre in the district.
The district authorities of Mon issued a press release to the media on Saturday informing about the development.
Mon’s district administration has “initiated the process” of setting up a centre of the Emporium Skill Training Institute at Wangkhao Government College (WGC) in Mon, with the signing of a memorandum of understanding among the institute, the college and the district’s administration.
The memorandum of understanding was signed on August 5, the district administration stated in the press release.
The memorandum was signed by Deputy Commissioner Thavaseelan K, Operations head of the institute Anirban Mukherjee and ML Ngullie, principal of the college, the updates stated.
“It is pertinent to note that WGC is the first government college in Nagaland to establish a skill training institute,” the press release read.
A centre of the Emporium Skill Training Institute will be established in the college’s premises to provide skill training and placements for Wangkhao Government College students as well as youths from Mon district, the press release stated.
‘The training duration would be three months and is completely free. The cost is sponsored by the central and state governments under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana scheme. The sectors for which job roles are available include aviation, hospitality and luxury cruise liners,’ the press release stated.
“Students can complete the course during the penultimate or final year of study so that they can appear for placements as and when they complete their education. It is proposed that four batches of 30 students each would run simultaneously,” the updates stated.
The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana is a skill development scheme of the government of India for recognition and standardisation of skills.
The Emporium Skill Training Institute is a recruitment partner for some of the leading industry brands including but not limited to Emirates, Qatar Airways, Indigo, Air India, Vistara, Go Air, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Taj Hotels, Hilton Hotels and Resorts, Inter Continental, JW Marriott, and Accor Hotels, among others, the updates added.
