DIMAPUR — Nagaland beat Sikkim by an innings and 202 runs at the Col C.K Nayudu Trophy 2023-24 for men’s Under -23, according to an update from Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) on Wednesday.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Nagaland displayed a brilliant batting performance with Afzal scoring 125 runs, Nchumbemo 83, Mughavi 77 runs and Neizekho 37 (not out) to put the team in a commanding position and declaring their first innings at 425 runs for loss of 9 wickets.
Sikkim’s bowling attack was led by Robin Limboo with a 3-wicket haul. He also scored 55 runs (not out) for the state in the first innings, while Denree scored 26 runs, but their battling line-up fell like a house of cards as Nagaland’s Neizekho took 6 wickets, while Raja and Hem claimed 2 wickets apiece.
Managing to score only 143 runs for loss of all wickets in the first innings, Sikkim was forced to follow-on but they were bowled out for just 80 runs in the second innings, to concede a humiliating defeat to Nagaland.
Once again, Neizekho took 5 wickets for Nagaland, while Raja took three to seal the Test match against Sikkim.
Nagaland U-23 will next take on Arunachal Pradesh at Nagaland Cricket Stadium in Sovima, from January 21 to the 24th.
