
Dimapur, Nov. 15 (EMN): A thanksgiving and launch programme of Lithanro Coffee Curing Unit was held at Lithanro Coffee Farm in Sanis under Wokha district on November 14.
The joint director (Extn.) of Coffee Board, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Guwahati, Navin Kumar Bahl Ryntathiang, inaugurated the unit in the presence of Albert Ngullie, additional director of Land Resources department. The unit was dedicated by Rev. Dr. K Benry Lotha, senior pastor of Kohima Lotha Baptist Church, stated a DIPR report.
In his Inaugural speech, Ryntathiang expressed happiness that someone somewhere in a small town in the Northeast has started the venture of setting up a coffee curing unit.
“This venture has added to the economy of the state,” he said and congratulated the proprietor of LCCU. Ryntathiang stated that the coffee growers are blessed as they now have a coffee curing unit in their backyard.
Albert Ngullie stated that the department was looking at 3Es namely employment generation, economic enhancement and environment protection in promoting coffee cultivation in the state. He encouraged the coffee growers to be sincere and dedicated to produce the best quality coffee.
The programme was attended by Bijaya Barman, pathologist and officer-in-charge of Regional Coffee Research Station, Coffee Board, Diphu, and Partha Pratim Choudhury, deputy director of Coffee Board, Jorhat, officials of Land Resources department and coffee growers from nearby villages and districts.
Proprietor of Lithanro Coffee Curing Unit, Searon, stated that the initiative was undertaken to bring the market to the doorsteps of the coffee growers.
