The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity announced a mass rally in Imphal on January 31 to protest policies it says threaten Manipur’s integrity and peace.

IMPHAL — The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), a committee of Manipur bodies, on Tuesday announced that it will organise a mass public rally on January 31 to raise its voice against what it described as policies of the Government of India that threaten the integrity and peace of the state.
Announcing this at a press conference in Imphal, newly elected convenor YK Dhiren appealed to the people to participate in the rally.

He said the rally is aimed at protecting the land and people of Manipur and safeguarding the fundamental rights of its citizens.
Urging people to suspend their usual daily activities and join the public movement in the interest of the state, he also called upon transporters, the business community, medical professionals, government and private employees, clubs and civil society organisations to extend support in all forms to ensure the rally’s success.
According to COCOMI, the rally will start from Thangmeiband Athletic Union ground in Imphal West district and converge at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex after passing through key routes of Imphal, where a public meeting will be held.
