Dimapur, Dec. 17: Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has appealed to Governor PB Acharya to immediately intervene in the series of alleged scandals that have rocked the State especially the recent PDS rice scam besides the fuel adulteration scam before things go out of control.
According to the CNTC, the Governor who has been vehemently opposing and crusading against the massive corruption in this chronic corrupt-ridden State should play a pivot role in weeding out all the elements that have been responsible for these acts and making our State a better place.
The CNTC also has denounced the action of Dimapur Police for using brute force on the peaceful protesters during the ACAUT rally on December 15. It was a gross misuse of power and abuse of Section 144 CrPC on the flimsiest of excuse by saying it was a festive season, the CNTC said in a release on Saturday.
“Our Fundamental Rights enshrined in the Constitution of India gives the freedom to assemble peacefully and to democratically address the rights and grievances of the people, whereas the State Government and the police have acted beyond like in a militarily ruled state,” the CNTC said.
The CNTC felt that instead of using force on innocent citizens it must prove its worth by arresting those culprits responsible in the scams without any fear or favour and said it is saddened by women and innocent participants injured and thrown around by water cannon and tear gas.
By using such excessive brute force on a peaceful protest, it has sent only a wrong signal that they are protecting the criminals, the CNTC said.
“Today for the sake of our young coming generations, every Naga must voice out against corruption without any bias or partiality,” the CNTC said and lauded the selfless sacrifices made by the ACAUT for our better tomorrow while supporting its demand for CBI inquiry at the earliest into these scams.
