Central Nagaland Tribes Council was formally launched as the ‘State level apex body’ of three constituent tribes i.e. Ao, Lotha and Sumi tribes at Town Hall, Dimapur today. Marking the occasion that was attended by over 500 delegates from the three constituent tribes, the President Ao Senden, Chairman Lotha Hoho and President Sumi Hoho with respective their hoho officials were in attendance.
The function was chaired by Capt Khekavi Zhimomi with Imtinochet Kubzar recording the proceedings. Rev L Lima Jamir, Associate Pastor DABA pronounced the Invocation followed by Theme song presented by Sanepong Tzudir and his friends. Convener of the CNTC Interim Council, Hokiye Yepthomi delivered the welcomed address while introduction of officials was done by the chairperson and Discipleship Bible College Choir enthralled the audience with their special song.
Short speeches endorsing the need of three tribes coming together on CNTC platform were delivered by President Ao Senden, Imolemba Jamir, Chairman Lotha Hoho, Mhao Humtsoe and President Sumi Hoho, Toniho Yepthomi. Tiameren Aier took the stage to belt out a special song that kept the audiences captivated.
Convener of the CNTC Constitution Drafting Committee, Supu Jamir read out the draft constitution which was unanimously adopted by the house. Convener of the Nomination Committee Mhao Humtsoe read out the report which nominated the following office bearers from among the 27 Executive Council members (9 from each tribe) for 2016 -2018 tenure: President: Hokiye Yepthomi, Vice President (2): Renchio Yanthan & O Shilu Jamir, General Secretary: Imtinochet Ao, Joint Secretary (2): Nikheto Jimomi & Nyimshio Mozhui, Finance Secretary: Khondao Ngully, Cultural Secretary: K Bendangtoshi, Info & Publicity Secretary: Jonah Achumi.
It may be mentioned that CNTC was initially formed in December 2012 as Dimapur based organization with the approval of three tribal Hoho’s to address the common interest of the three tribes on the principles of unity, fraternity and solidarity. On Dec 8, 2015 the three apex bodies of Ao, Lotha and Sumi decided to upgrade the CNTC as the State level Apex Body of three tribes and an 15 member Interim Council headed by Hokiye Yepthomi as Convener was set up to work out all the modalities in 3 months time.
