Dimapur, June 14 (EMN): The Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) through its Media cell expressed its deep concern on the manipulation and diversion of state police funds under some dubious financial dealings and fictitious activities mastered by one Rajendran Pillai alias ‘Pillai Sir’ who acts as the go-between and the broker for the state police department in procuring central funds for the state police. “It is beyond any sane human logic to comprehend that a mere constable, and NCO who joined the force 30 years ago could rise above the stipulated rank and acquire such massive wealth over a thousand crores” stated the press release. The CNTC wondered how state police vehicles were used to transport all those money belonging to Nagaland state to Pillai’s home state of Kerala as five Nagaland Police vehicles have been found by the investigating agencies. CNTC also expressed shock that Nagaland state police vehicles had been used to smuggle gold, currency notes and other commodities in the safety of the state police vehicles by Pillai. On the statement provided by senior police officers of the PHQ to news correspondents that the state police department would be “badly affected if Pillai Sir is removed” and that “the police department became fully dependent on Pillai because of his efficiency, hardworking and hence PHQ became fully dependent on him” was vague, irrational and illogical, CNTC stated. Such hollow and empty statements was an open insult to the police department itself and also to other serving Naga police officers as there was no dearth of dynamic ,intelligent and efficient and sincere officers among the ranks and files of the Nagaland Police, CNTC added. The CNTC also wondered how the state vigilance commission could give the clearance about Pillai’s assets and integrity to further recommend and award him the President’s medal for Meritorious Service in 2005 as it has defiled and tarnished the name of such a prestigious and an exalted award to be given to a such highly corrupted person and a master con-artist. The CNTC also questions the state government on the use of some persons from outside the state as ‘consultants’ and ‘advisors’ after their retirement working hand in glove and allowing them to loot the whole state at their behest and fancies. The council demanded that a thorough investigation be carried out on all those involved in pillaging the state under the Sreevalsam Group and benami names. The CNTC said it will not remain a mute spectator when all these deeds of duping and double crossing acts of fleecing the resources meant for the state allotted by the centre are embezzled by some unscrupulous outsiders. Further, CNTC added that Nagaland will never be allowed to continue as a gold mine and a safe haven for every outsider of different shades and colour to be looted and plundered when many of its own people are thirsting for a decent and a proper livelihood.
