Dimapur, May 16 (EMN): Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has appealed to the National Investigating Agency (NIA) to exercise some restraint on those State government employees and officers, who were recently arrested in extortion case for allegedly providing substantial amounts from the government funds to some underground outfits.
CNTC Media Cell today said the government employees are always under threat and extreme duress from various outfits as it is impossible to provide security to each and every officials at all times. Inspite of trying to provide round the clock vigil by the State police and security agencies, it becomes almost impossible to guard all and sundry, the statement said.
While acknowledging that the Government of India has every right to act according to its law, CNTC said the public and government employees are always at the receiving as some factions were adamant on imposing taxes due to the inability of bringing them on a common table for talks to resolve the decades old Naga political imbroglio.
CNTC earnestly appealed the Government of India to demonstrate goodwill on its citizens adding all those arrested government officials were acting under immense pressure and coercion for which they had no other alternative.
