Dimapur, Sep 7 (EMN): State chief minister, TR Zeliang, has urged officials of the Air India and Indigo Airlines to improve air connectivity with the rest of the country operating from the lone airport in Dimapur.
Zeliang said this during meeting with Rajiv Bansal, Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Air India; Rajat Kumar, Vice President of Indigo Airlines; and Sanjay Kumar, Chief Commercial Officer of Indigo Airlines in Delhi recently.
Zeliang had requested both the airlines operators to consider adding more flights without any disruption.
A press release issued by CMO stated that Air India CMD, Rajiv Bansal, had assured to operate Dimapur – Kolkata flights without any disruption and to look into the feasibility of operating another flight to Delhi via Guwahati.
Zeliang pointed out that the discontinuation of Indigo direct flight from stopover at Kolkata has caused immense hardship to passengers. He cited that under such circumstances, passengers were made to change flights at Kolkata which causes inconvenience and wastage of time.
Indigo officials, while appreciating the chief minister for the continued support to Indigo air operations, had assured to resume direct return flight by end of September.
Both Air India and Indigo officials have assured to do everything possible towards improving the services for Nagaland.
Meanwhile, the chief minister also visited the newly constructed Nagaland House Building at RK Puram, New Delhi, and interacted with the officials of the Construction Firm, Confoss Constructions. The construction has been completed except for interior furnishings. The inauguration of the new building will be held soon, CMO statement added.
