DIMAPUR — Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, released a book titled ‘His Majesty's Headhunters," written by Mmhonlumo Kikon at WW-II Museum in Kisama on Saturday.
Rio congratulated Kikon on his book stating that writing is about sharing one's knowledge. He stated that the book would be a knowledge repository for the generations to come, stated a DIPR report.
He was of the opinion that a book about the British colonial Nagas written by a local author would give a different perception unlike the ones written by others, while he also underlined the importance of documenting the Naga's side of the story.
Rio also shared his own British-Japanese stories passed on to him by his parents and relatives.
Author of the book, Mmhonlumo Kikon, while briefing about the book, stated that the book is about the people and stories from the Naga's perspective. He also highlighted that it is on the period of the British occupation starting from 1832.
He further shed light on the impact on modern Nagaland due to the British colonisation and the Japanese invasion.
