Dimapur, Nov. 30 (EMN): The Chief Minister TR Zeliang on Thursday greeted the people of the state on the occasion of the 54th Statehood Day that falls on December 1.
"I, on behalf of the Government of Nagaland, extend greetings to the citizens of Nagaland on the occasion of the 54th Statehood Day," expressed the chief minister in a statement from the CMO.
Narrating about the state's day of inauguration, the chief minister stated that the then president of the country Dr. S Radhakrishnan formally declared Nagaland as the 16th state under the Indian Union at Kohima Local Ground on December 1, 1963. He stated the day as an extraordinary day in the political history of Nagaland and appealed to the people of the state to make the state prosperous.
"Today, as we celebrate Nagaland statehood, I appeal to the citizens of Nagaland to join hands to make Nagaland a great and prosperous state. On this auspicious occasion, I wish the citizens of Nagaland peace and prosperity and pray that the state scales new heights."
The chief minister also took the opportunity to welcome President Ram Nath Kovind to the ‘Land of Festivals’ and the ‘Falcon capital of the world’.
