Kohima, June 20 (EMN): Nagaland Chief Minister Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu today talked about the ‘need to spread knowledge’ and ‘impart education of Information Technology’ to every Naga student.
Speaking during a ceremony marking the distribution of computer sets to government colleges at his office chamber at the Civil Secretariat in Kohima town, the chief minister said that Nagaland was ranked fifth ‘in the IT sector in the country.’ He expressed happiness at the IT department for ‘achieving this ranking.’
The chief minister was of the view that the world was ‘changing into digital world.’ The Naga students must not lag behind, he said.
Further, Dr. Liezietsu said that students will have ‘no problem with the advancement of technology’ and expressed hope to see Naga youths emerge among the best in the field of information and technology in the near future. He was optimistic that the computer sets, especially for the government colleges, will mark a new beginning in empowering them in education. The computer sets were funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
Out of 100 sets, 50 will be distributed to five accredited government colleges while 50 will be given to 10 government colleges.
During the programme, the chief minister announced to provide three buses, one each for Kohima Science College in Kohima, Fazl Ali College in Mokokchung and Dimapur Government College in Dimapur by the Nagaland government.
