Exuding pride that Nagaland has a higher literacy rate compared to many states in India, State chief minister, TR Zeliang, called upon the students to strive to attain certain level of knowledge and skills to be useful member of the society. Zeliang has accredited the achievement to parents and educational institutions whose awareness had enabled the students avail the facilities.Zeliang said this in his address at the felicitation programme of meritorious students of Bhojpuri Samaj organized by the Nagaland Bhojpuri Samaj Dimapur on November 22 at Durga Mandir Hall, Dimapur. On the occasion, Nagaland Bhojpuri Samaj, Dimapur, had felicitated meritorious students of the Bhojpuri Samaj from all over Nagaland.
Addressing the community, TR Zeliang encouraged the students to put in hard work to be successful in life. “In this fast changing and competitive world, we need to excel in whatever we do because mediocrity or just passing the exam is not enough,” remarked the chief minister. While reminding that the present era is a knowledge driven era, Zeliang urged the people to attain certain level of knowledge and skill to be a useful member of the society. On the occasion he also acknowledged the contributions made by the Bhojpuri speaking community to the development of Nagaland in various fields.
Congratulating the meritorious students, Zeliang said that the state is happy and proud when bright students excel in their studies, irrespective of community or state they come from.
Expressing his hope that the recognition would work as a motivation for them to do even better in the future, he also acknowledged that recognition and felicitation of meritorious students is a must as it encourages the students to do better in future and also generate healthy competition.
The chief guest was also accompanied by Advisor of Urban Development SI Jamir, Minister of Power Kipili Sangtam, Minister of Roads and Bridges Y Vikheho Chishi Swu, Parliamentary Secretary for Law & Justice Jacob Zhimomi, Parliamentary Secretary for Housing Er. Levi Rengma, and host of dignitaries.
The welcome speech was delivered by president of Nagaland Bhojpuri Samaj, RC Gupta (Dimapur), while Saraswati Vandana was chanted by students of Gamadi Vidya Bharti, Dhansaripar. The programme was chaired by Uttam Singh.
