Club in Wokha to host musical fest in Doyang

Dimapur, April 18 (EMN): Acoustic Club in Wokha district, in collaboration with the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) with Rhyuka Yenjo as the venue partner, has decided to organise a two-day musical, food and fun fest at Doyang Tourist Resort area on April 23 and 24.

A DIPR report stated that a total of 14 musical bands from Wokha district and one guest band would take part during the two days event.

While briefing at the event site on April 17, advisor of TaFMA, Theja Meru, stated Doyang is a ‘jewel in the crown of Nagaland’ and that the musical event would be a small beginning to tell the world of the treasures in Nagaland. He added that music festivals and musicians contribute substantially to a local economy adding, ‘arts and music are our best brand ambassadors and soft power.’

Meru stated that TaFMA sees huge potential in economic activity and opportunities for Naga musicians and all other businesses that go with festivals. He expressed hope that the fest would blossom into a big festival in the years to come like other music festivals that contribute to the local economy and growth of the arts industry in a big way.

The event manager, Nzanbemo Patton, expressed gratitude to the TaFMA team for the support extended towards the organisers to host the event and opined that many young musicians would be benefited through such a platform. He also thanked the chief minister for giving such a platform to the youngsters in the field of music. Patton further stated that the event would be conducted by strictly following all laid down SOPs.

Project director of TaFMA, Dr. Hovithal Sothu, thanked the Land Owners’ Union (LOU), Doyang, for making the space available for the team to host the event and added that the initiative could come thus far due to the interest and help from the TaFMA advisor. LOU Doyang president, Rhanbemo Odyuo, informed that fishing, camping and picnicking would be restricted at the Tourist Resort Area during the event.
