Kohima, July 31 (EMN): The Swachh Survekshan Grameen-2018 launching programme-cum-awareness program for Kohima district was held at Ura Academy Hall, Kohima on July 31.
Vikienyu Zutso, executive engineer, PHED in his keynote address said the ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Government of India will go about with cleanliness survey for villages through an independent survey agency to develop ranking of 698 districts covering 6980 villages on their rural sanitation status and 34,000 public places in these villages from August 1 to the 30th.
The ranking will be based on a comprehensive set of quantitative and qualitative sanitation parameters including data from Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), district level surveys of public places and citizen’s perception on cleanliness and their recommendations for improvement of the program.
As part of the survey, states and districts will be ranked for their sanitation and cleanliness status following which top performing states and district will be awarded on 2nd October 2018, he informed.
“This survey is to instil a spirit of healthy competition by appealing to people’s sense of pride in their village and district’s sanitation and cleanliness aspect” said Zutso
While speaking on the occasion, Vineet Kumar, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, the special guest in his speech called upon the involvement of the common people in implementing for such campaign. He further encouraged the gathering present to take the opportunity to create a clean and healthy environment.
Thepfulie Theunuo, consultant, DSWM PHED said the inspection team of survey agency will be arriving on Tuesday evening to Nagaland.
He also informed that the teams will be visiting the villages for evaluation of cleanliness and asked the representative to extend the cooperation during such visits.
