Beau, convenor of Clean Election Campaign (CEC) speaking during the awareness rally on clean election held at Longleng local ground on April 5.[/caption] Dimapur, April 5 (EMN): In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled to be held in the state on April 11, the Phom Baptist Church Association (PBCA) organised a mass rally to spread awareness on clean election for the citizens of Longleng district on Friday. Speaking on clean election at the event held at Longleng local ground, Rev. Beau, convenor of Clean Election Campaign (CEC) asserted that it is a movement initiated by the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) to bring a complete change in the election system in Nagaland state, informed an update from DPRO, Longleng. The campaign is not organised to target any political party or candidate but to bring a big transformation in the election system for peace and prosperity of the state by electing a right leader to lead the Nagas in the right direction, he said. He went on to say that the PBCA and the Churches have no hidden agenda to support or oppose any political party and candidate. Quoting a verse from the Bible, Beau said “our outward activities will be clean when our inner thoughts and ways are pure” and added that “we must clean our kitchen first before cleaning our society.” Asserting that transformation of society requires consolidate effort of all, he appealed to the gathering to come forward to actively participate in the Clean Election Campaign for a bright and prosperous Nagaland. He also asserted that only true love, peace unity and forgiveness can change the state. Pointing out that Clean Election Campaign is God’s mission, he said voting for money and job is wrong. He said politics doesn’t mean to influence with money power but to provide good governance with better roads, health care, education and all-round development of the community. He also urged the people to stand for the truth and fear no one except God to cast their vote for the true leader to lead the people for “complete transformation of Naga society.” PBCA President delivered the keynote address, while PBCA Executive Secretary N. Tialemba proposed “reflection on commitment and looking beyond tomorrow.” The district election department, Longleng demonstrated EVM and VVPAT after the programme and leaflets on clean election were distributed to the people.
