Classic Cup to begin from Thursday

Kohima, Nov. 1 (EMN): The 23rd edition of Classic Cup football tournament is all set to begin on Thursday, Nov. 2 at the Kohima local ground under the theme ‘Creating a better world through football’ organised by Classic Club Kohima 35 teams will be vying for the trophy where the champion will walk home with Rs. 1, 50, 000 and runners-up with Rs. 80, 000 besides individual cash prizes. The three- week long tournament will conclude on Nov. 20. It may be mentioned that Barak won the prestigious Cup for the third consecutive time. Last year Barak Football Club defeated Kuki United FC 2-1 in the final match to retain the Classic Cup. Linda Solo, Director Youth Resources and Sports will attend the inaugural session as the chief guest at 2 pm on Nov. 2 at the Kohima local ground. Thursday’s match Kohima College vs Capital College of Higher Education at 2 pm.
