Kohima, Nov. 3 (EMN): Phezoucha Youth Organisation, Kuluopfu FC Pochury and Naga Jaguars FC won their respective first match to enter the pre-quarterfinal round of the ongoing 24th Classic Cup here at the Kohima local ground on Saturday.
In the first match, Kevi scored a hat-trick as Phezoucha Youth Organisation beat Elite Brother's 6-2. Kevi became the first hat-trick scorer of the tournament as he helped his team register an easy win over Elite Brothers.
Playing a 60 minute match, Meuse opened the scoring in the 10th minute for Phezoucha and Kevi added the second in the 30th minute.
In the second half, Kevi scored his second in the 32nd minute and completed his hat-trick in the 41st minute. Thepfuneilhou also scored in the 35th minute for Phezoucha.
Elite Brother did made a late comeback scoring through Pauria Ding (49th) and Vikito (51th) but Ruokuosezo finished the game for Phezoucha in the 58th minute to make it 6-2 to win the match.
Up next, Phezoucha Youth Organisation will clash against last year semi-finalist Kohima Eagles FC on Nov. 9 in their pre-quarterfinal round.
In the second match, Kuluopfu FC Pochury defeated via tiebreaker after the match ended in a goalless draw. Both teams failed to break the deadlock in the stipulated time as the match was decided through penalty as Kuluopfu FC won by 4-2.
In the next match, Pochury team will clash against Tiema-Khe on Nov. 9.
In the last match of the day, Ato D Vadeo and Kelvin Kappo scored two goals each as Naga Jaguars FC thrashed Young Komets 5-0. With the win, Naga Jaguars take on Samaritan FC on Nov. 7 in the pre-quarterfinal.
In the match, Naga Jaguars made immediate impact as they took the lead through Ato D Vadeo in the 7th minute and Kelvin Kappo added the second goal in the 22nd minute Ato then curled home the third goal in the 27 minute to make it 3-0 in the first half.
In the second half, Kelvin Kappo added the fourth in the 39th minute and Efurang Zeliang scored a beautiful goal in the 53rd minute to finish the game.
Komets failed to register a single shot on target as their lacklustre game send them back home.
