Classic Club decimates KPC to lift Challenger Cup

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 29: Classic Club captain Chotisuh Sazo (Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly), scored a hat-trick to trounce Kohima Press Club 7-3 here today at Kohima local ground as Classic Club lifted the 9th Challenger Cup. L Kire of Classic Cup scored two goals while Mhalier Sekhose and Ruovizhalie Whuorie scored one each for the host club. Neidilhoutuo Sechu, Narain Sagar and Akielie Yano scored one goal each for Kohima Press Club. Ironically, the individual prizes of the match were swept away by the losing team as KPC president Xavier Rutsa won player of the match and others include Narain Sagar (best scorer), HK Chishi (best goalkeeper) and Akielie Yano (Best defender) . Sazo, with his hat-trick, won the highest scorer award while L Kire was adjudged the best midfielder. The Challenger Cup is an annual football exhibition match played between Classic Club and Kohima Press Club since 2006 as a mark of camaraderie between the two clubs. The match is a part of the annual premier football tournament Classic Cup, organised by Classic Club Kohima. The grand finale of the 22nd Classic Club will be played between defending champions Barak FC and Kuki United at Kohima local ground (Khuochiezie) on Wednesday at 1 pm.
