Dimapur, October 4 : A community group in Phek district called the Sohonumi clan has denounced an alleged rape stated to have been committed by a person from Chozuba village “who forcefully raped minor... of 14 years old.” A note from Sohonumi Clan of Phek (SCP) on Tuesday said that the alleged victim was a housemaid. The incident was stated to have happened at Bethany-I colony in Phek Town “during middle part of August 2016.”
According to the note jointly appended by the clan’s Chairman Kuveluta Soho and General Secretary Kuzhovesa Soho, the alleged perpetrator had “on several occasions repeatedly raped the minor which is beyond human tolerance and is highly punishable under law.”
Terming the perpetrator a “shameless creature”, the clan urged the authorities to punish the culprit.
“The rapist being deserved for stringent punishment...the clan further urged the concerned authority not to give bail able warrant to the rapist. It further warned that anybody intervene in bailing out of the rapist shall be held responsible of whatsoever,” the note added.
