Dimapur, June 24 (EMN): Christ King Higher Secondary School (CKHSS), Kohima organised a three-day inter-school Golden Jubilee Memorial Tournament from June 20 to 22
nd as part of the school Golden Jubilee celebration slated to be held in October.
Ten schools from in and around Kohima town participated in the tournament, stated an update received here on Monday.
Commissioner and Secretary, Information Technology and Power, Govt. of Nagaland, K. D. Vizo (ITS) was the guest speaker for the inaugural ceremony on June 20. While addressing the various teams, he recalled his early schooling and how Bethany Sisters had shaped his life by inculcating moral and religious values. He reminded the students that our life is ruled by artificial intelligence through science and technologies and exhorted them to be aware of the constant changes.
Thejawelie Gregory Sote (NCS), Additional Secretary, Land Revenue, Govt. of Nagaland attended the occasion as the guest of honour for the concluding ceremony on June 22.
In his address, he stressed on the various benefits of sports and how it can bring about social and emotional changes in one’s life. He cautioned the students about the danger of addiction to social media and proposed sports as a panacea for it. He also gave away the prizes to the winners.
In boys’ football, St. Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School emerged as the champion while T.M.Govt. Higher Secondary School (TMGHSS) bagged the runners-up. Mosa of TMGHSS received the highest goal scorer award while Tepevic Thokwe of St. Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School (SMCHSS) walked away with the best player award.
In girls’ basketball, Model Higher Secondary School (MHSS) bagged the championship trophy and Little Flower Higher Secondary School took the runners-up trophy. Kevileno Zütso and Chingnunmoi Guite both from MHSS walked away with the top scorer and best player awards respectively.
