Multiple organisations in Nagaland condemn the sexual assault of an elderly woman in Kiphire and a minor in Kohima.

DIMAPUR — Multiple civil society, youth, and women's organisations have condemned the alleged sexual assault of an elderly woman in Kiphire and another alleged sexual assault of a minor in Kohima.
The accused in the Kiphire incident is identified as an Armed Branch Constable of DEF Kiphire. In the Kohima incident, a youth leader allegedly sexually assaulted a minor while they were engaged in church-related work.
The Zeliang Youth Organisation Nagaland expressed outrage over the Kiphire incident, stating that such a barbaric and inhuman act is a grave violation of human dignity.
The organisation in a press release stated that no individual, regardless of background, should be shielded from accountability and urged authorities to ensure an impartial and expeditious investigation.
The Eastern Sümi Totimi Hoho also condemned the Kiphire assault, describing it as deeply inhuman and wholly unacceptable. The organisation demanded that the concerned authorities ensure a fair investigation and pursue justice under all relevant laws.

In its condemnation, the Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong expressed shock, noting that the occurrence of such a crime against a senior citizen highlights a severe breakdown of safety in society. The organisation expressed concern that a law enforcer, entrusted to protect the vulnerable, had betrayed his oath.
The Sümi Totimi Hoho condemned both the Kiphire and Kohima incidents. Regarding the Kiphire incident, the hoho noted that the accused was a member of a disciplined force and should be held to the highest standards of accountability. Regarding the Kohima incident, the Sümi Totimi Hoho stated that a church youth leader occupies a position of trust and moral responsibility, making the alleged abuse of trust profoundly disappointing.
The Yimkhiung Women Organisation vehemently condemned the Kiphire incident, stating that an act of such brutality against an elderly person is a grave violation of human dignity and Naga customary values. The organisation demanded a fair, impartial, and swift investigation.
Additionally, the Zeliang Youth Organisation Chümoukedima expressed deep distress over the Kiphire assault, calling it a violation of human dignity that questions the moral conscience of society. The organisation urged the government and law enforcement agencies to expedite the investigation and deliver stringent punishment.
All organisations extended solidarity, sympathy, and prayers to the survivors and their families.
