Deputy Commissioner of Kohima stresses importance of professionalism in disaster response.

DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B Henok Buchem, on Friday stressed the importance of professionalism in disaster response during the Civil Defence Volunteers Training Programme, a capacity-building initiative for volunteers, officials and trainers, held at Agriland Building, AG Colony, Kohima.
Cautioning that “little knowledge can be very dangerous”, the DC said the Civil Defence volunteers serve as a crucial reserve force for the government during emergencies, a DIPR report stated.

He updated that “a seismic expert at the Mengujuma Railway tunnel site reported more than 46 earthquakes in Kohima within the past year, underscoring the necessity of readiness”.
Buchem also encouraged the participants to foster unity, commitment to community service, disaster preparedness, and mutual protection, said an update from DPRO Kohima.
Reminding them about their responsibility in the society, he urged them to give their full dedication to the training.
