
Dimapur, Dec. 17 (EMN): Sümi Hoho (SH) organised a “Thanksgiving programme” on completion of 60 kilometres road maintenance works from Kandiniu to Zunheboto via Puneboqa - Saptiqa - Ghukiye on December 15 at Langki river.
The “Citizens good road campaign,” which was initiated by the SH, was flagged off on November 9 and the road maintenance works were carried out with the voluntary donations from the public, an update from Sumi Hoho stated.
The programme was attended by leaders from frontal organisations including Sümi Kükami Hoho, Sümi Kiphimi Küqhakulu, Sümi Totimi Hoho, Zunheboto Town GBs’ Association, Zunheboto Area Public Organisation and the church leaders. The deputy commissioner of Zunheboto Peter Lichamo and the sub-divisional police officer also attended the programme.
Short speeches were delivered by Peter Lichamo, SH advisor Hekhushe Shikhu, SKH president Kashito Yepthomi, SKK vice president Ayeto Jimomi, ZTGBA president Shihoto Zhimomi and ZAPO president Kakugha Rotokha.
It stated that the speakers have lauded the Sümi Hoho for initiating the much needed project and completing the 60 kilometres road maintenance works in just a short span of time. The speakers also expressed happiness that a 5-6 hours journey from Zunheboto to Kohima has now been reduced to 3-4 hours.
Meanwhile, SH president Nikheto Jimomi presented a detailed report on the road maintenance works and conveyed gratitude to all the individuals and groups for their contributions towards the campaign. He also thanked the Zunheboto district administration and the Roads and Bridges department for the logistics support.
The programme was chaired by SH general secretary Dr. Vihuto Asumi.
