CIHSR conducts a workshop to strengthen emergency cardiac care and improve access to specialist services across Nagaland.

DIMAPUR — The Department of Cardiology at Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), Chümoukedima, conducted a two-day capacity-building workshop on November 4 and the 5th to strengthen emergency cardiac care and improve coordination between peripheral healthcare centres and specialist cardiac teams across Nagaland.
According to an update issued by the institute, the workshop focused on training doctors, nurses and ECG technicians in the use of CorConnect, a mobile application designed to connect peripheral healthcare facilities directly with CIHSR's cardiac care specialists.
Participants from Police Referral Hospital, Chümoukedima; Medziphema Community Health Centre; Khonoma Primary Health Centre; Holy Redeemer Health Centre, Chümoukedima; and Jalukie Community Health Centre attended the training.
The sessions included practical, case-based ECG interpretation, with a focus on critical cardiac conditions such as acute heart attacks and heart blocks requiring pacemaker intervention.
Through CorConnect, frontline healthcare facilities can securely transmit patients' medical histories, 12-lead ECGs and vital signs to CIHSR specialists for timely assessment and guidance.
The system is expected to facilitate early intervention, patient stabilisation and coordinated referrals during the critical “Golden Hour”.
The initiative aims to strengthen Nagaland's emergency cardiac care network by enabling faster clinical decision-making, improving access to specialist expertise and ultimately enhancing patient outcomes.
