DIMAPUR — The Churches Colony Council on Sunday slammed the alleged “forceful” lockdown of a business establishment by Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU), calling it unlawful intimidation and a threat to public order.
In a press statement, the council alleged that the DNSU forcefully entered and locked down the establishment over business-related allegations, terming the act unlawful and a direct challenge to the authority of the government and law enforcement agencies.
“The forceful closure of business establishments is unlawful, unacceptable and a direct challenge to the authority of the government, district administration and law enforcement agencies,” the statement read.
The council maintained that matters concerning alleged business malpractice or disputes fall strictly within the jurisdiction of competent government authorities and should be addressed only through due legal process.

It stated that grievances or allegations must be brought before the appropriate agencies for investigation and necessary action in accordance with the law, and not through acts of intimidation or unauthorised enforcement.
Urging immediate intervention, the council called upon the district administration and law enforcement agencies to take “serious cognisance” of the incident, conduct a thorough inquiry and initiate appropriate legal action against those allegedly involved.
The council further reiterated that Churches Colony would not tolerate unlawful intimidation, coercion or actions that disturb peace and normal public life within its jurisdiction.
“The rule of law must prevail at all times,” it added.
