IMPHAL, SEPTEMBER 28: A residential house and a church were gutted by fire believed to have caused by a power short circuit on Wednesday morning.
The incident took place when the family members of the said house located at New Lambulane 3rd street in New Checkon area in Manipur’s Imphal East district were reportedly about to have lunch around 9.30am, local sources said.
The house belonged to one Lallienkhum Tlangte (55), a state government employee. The name of the church was EFCI church.
The local residents and the personnel of the state fire service department took nearly two hours to douse the fire which completely razed the one storey semi-pucca building destroying household properties worth lakhs of rupees.
Dead body found: A dead body of a young man was recovered from a place called Eerak-wa near Moijing area, about 30 km south of Imphal in Manipur’s Thoubal district on Wednesday morning. According to reports reaching here, an Aadhar card recovered from the possession of the dead body bears the name of Thokchom Dinesh (28) of Kwakeithel in Imphal. The dead body has been evacuated to the JNIMS hospital mortuary for further steps, reports added. No injury mark was found on the body when the passerby’s detected it.
