Dimapur, July 12 (EMN): An advocacy programme on tobacco was conducted at Golden Crown Theological College, Full Nagarjan in Dimapur on June 12.
Dr. C Tetseo, in his presentation emphasised that the people in the church ministries can no longer ignore the problems posed by tobacco in view of the sheer number of people using it in the society.
“Tobacco problem will only lead to health, economic, social and spiritual problem,” he said. The church ministry offers a unique platform for awareness as well as for cessation interventions, he added.
Admitting that people in the ministry have ignored tobacco problem in the past, Pamei, a lecturer of the college challenged the students to take this issue seriously. He opined that anti-tobacco awareness and counselling could be included as part of the practical works for the students.
