DIMAPUR — The primary health centre (PHC), Chunlikha, under Tseminyu district, which is currently functioning under the establishment of the chief medical officer (CMO) of Kohima, was conferred National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification in primary health centre category under the leadership of its medical officer in-charge, Dr. Cheyale Kath.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]An update from the office of the chief medical office (CMO) of Kohima stated that under primary health centre category, NQAS assessment was done for six departments including OPD, labour room, IPD, laboratory, national health programme (NHP) and general administration.
It stated that each department in NQAS were broadly arranged under eight areas of concern (AOC) such as service provision, patient rights, inputs, support services, clinical care, infection control, quality management and outcome. Under each AoC, there are standards which are accredited by International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua) and meets global benchmarks in terms of comprehensiveness, objectivity, evidence and rigour of development, the statement said.
NQAS was launched in 2013 with an aim to improve the quality of care in public health facilities of India.
Report stated that NQAS external assessment of Chunlikha PHC was done on April 21 and 22.
The nodal officers from the district for NQAS external assessment for extending support are Dr. Imchatoshi Jamir, deputy CMO of Kohima, and Dr. Imnanoktsung Longchar, DPM of quality assurance.
The external assessors for the national certification of Chunlikha PHC were Dr. TomarKamki, district family welfare officer from West Siang district in Arunachal Pradesh, and Dr. Lalchhanhima Hmar, medical officer of PHC Bilkhawthlir in Kolasib district, Mizoram.
It mentioned that the Chunlikha dispensary was established in 1964 and upgraded to PHC in 2001 and Health and Wellness Center (HWC) in 2019.
To its credit, PHC Chunlikha won the best PHC in the year 2018-2019. It also won the commendation awards in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. It also won the best PHC again in 2021-2022.
The CMO of Kohima, Dr. Tumchobeni, has congratulated the staff of Chunlikha PHC for their incredible achievement and encouraged them to deliver quality healthcare services. The CMO further thanked all staff of CMO office Kohima for their support and cooperation during the arduous process of achieving NQAS certification of Chunlikha PHC.
