Local businessman brutally assaulted, robbed

Four youth organizations of Chumukedima today issued an ultimatum demanding that a cadre of the armed underground group NSCN (IM) be handed over to them on or before October 20. The cadre, identified as one Kughato of Zuikhu village, and two other persons allegedly assaulted and robbed on Thepfusatuo Chatsu of new Chumukedima village.
Chatsu was running a medical store ‘Alpha & Omega Medical in Chumukedima town, a copy of the ultimatum issued by four Chumukedima youth organizations on October 16, stated.The leaderships of New Chumukedima Village Youth Society, Chumukedima Town Youth Society, Chumukedima Village Youth Society and Chumukedima Chamber of Trade and Commerce Association issued the ultimatum.
According to the organizations, the said Kughato, of Zuikhu village and two other persons brutally assaulted the medical dealer and looted him of cash that was in the cash counter, wallet and two mobile phone sets. The organizations also issued a graphic photograph of a severely injured person, and shown with a swollen and blackened face caused by violence inflicted to the face.
‘The sentiment of the public is further hurt when NSCN (IM) town commander Peren failed to turn up on October 16 agreed earlier to settle the case,’ the organizations stated.
The youth groups have demanded to know whether the underground cadre was “carrying out NSCN (IM) government directive” and how a cadre under Peren town command was creating trouble in Chumukedima, Dimapur.
The New Chumukedima Village Youth Society, Chumukedima Town Youth Society, Chumukedima Village Youth Society and Chumukedima Chamber of Trade and Commerce Association have demanded that Kughato and his two accomplices must be brought on or before October 20 before the organizations.
As for the weak police and law enforcement mechanisms in Dimapur, the youth groups have queried to what extent they had pursued the case and what action had been taken as an FIR had already been lodged.
