Dimapur, Oct. 1 (EMN): Chümoukedima FC emerged as champions of the 1st Chumoukedima District Football League organised by Chümoukedima District Football Association (CDFA) on Saturday.
The champions walked home with a cash prize of INR 1.5 lakh along with a trophy and certificates, while the runner-up team, Naga United FC, received a cash prize of INR 80,000 along with certificates and trophy.
Keneisede from Piphema United FC won the higherst scorer award with nine goals, best defender was won by Katoho from Naga United FC, best goal keeper by Lijanthung from Sovima FC and player of the tournament by Manton from Chümoukedima FC.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=6]As the special guest of the closing ceremony, Neibou Sekhose, President of Nagaland Football Association (NFA) and executive member of All India Football Federation (AIFF), encouraged the players to have positive mindset to move forward.
In line with AIFF’s direction, many changes were on the pipeline such tournaments, referees, coaches and players, and in due course of time they would discuss with all the stakeholders.
He also encouraged the players to display good sportsmanship, not only as a practice of etiquette and respect for sports, but also because the good behaviour of athletes carries over into other aspects of life.
