Chuchuyimlang and Merangkong refutes bandh report

Dimapur, Jan. 16: The two village councils of Chuchuyimlang and Merangkong, both under Mokokchung district, have clarified that there was no social unrest or disturbances of any kind within the jurisdictions of Chuchuyimlang and Merangkong villages that would warrant calling a bandh. The village councils of the two villages issued separate press releases on Monday stating that some miscreants were spreading rumours of the bandh to ‘malign the names of Chuchuyimlang and Merangkong villages by circulating a forged document without bearing any signatures declaring bandh in National Highway No 2.’ Both the village councils have condemned what they stated was criminal acts and assured that ‘the wrongdoers will be dealt with seriously’.
