Christians across the state on Sunday joined the rest of the world in celebrating Easter Sunday, which marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In the state capital, hundreds of believers congregated at the Kohima War Cemetery site and participated in the ‘Sunrise Service’ organized by the Kohima Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship (KBPF). The programme was held on the theme ‘The Empty Tomb’.
Delivering the message on the occasion, ABCC executive director, Rev. Dr. Atsi Dolie talked about the significance of the resurrection of Christ.
He said there were many false propagation about the resurrection but the surest prove is proclaiming the evidences of the empty tomb by demonstrating the living Jesus within our hearts.
He challenged believers to feel the effect of Christ’s resurrection in their daily lives, and demonstrate the power of Christ’s resurrection from dead in their personal lives.
The church leader also encouraged Christians to live in such a way that others may see Jesus through their exemplary lives.
Conveying Easter greetings to the people, Chief Minister TR Zeliang said Easter does not only mark the victory of Jesus over death, but it upholds the uniqueness of the Christian faith.
He said that Easter Sunday also signifies the victory of Christians over death, giving them the assurance of eternal life. The Chief Minister prayed that the love of Christ that surpasses all understanding warm each and every home on the occasion.
The service was led by KBPF vice president, pastor Moba Konyak, while pastor Sankara Narayan read a scripture passage and invoked God’s blessings. Special songs were presented by the Rengma and Chakhesang Baptist Churches of Kohima. Later, the State Chaplain, Rev. Kauzirang Thou led a mass spoken prayer.
