Dimapur, Oct. 13 (EMN):The Christian Forum of Dimapur (CFD) conducted a leadership seminar and prayer service on Oct. 9 at the Rengma Baptist Church in Dimapur. The congregation prayed for peace in Nagaland and prayed for national and state politicians, and other leaders.
During the event, Rev. Dr. Kavito Zhimo, the principal of Trinity Theological College, highlighted important qualities that make for good Christian leadership. He emphasised on integrity as the trademark of all leaders, and that a good leader needs to be aware of doing the right thing at all times.
Quoting sociologist, writer and a futurist Alwin Toffler that the new generation of illiterate people are those who ‘don’t learn, unlearn and relearn,’ Zhimo urged the leaders to ‘learn, unlearn and relearn.’ They can do so by developing moral and spiritual values, develop a Godly life, influence people, get job done, and develop a disciplined life.
“The wise discipline themselves; the unwise discipline others world virtue and self-discipline as these virtues will make a difference which is needed in our society.”
During the second session, Rev. Dr. P Dozo spoke on the topic ‘Biblical approach to accountability’. He said accountability is the fulfilment of a responsibility with a sense of being faithful and taking ownership. Illustrating from the fable about the tortoise and the hare, he said that the first crawled consistently—doing its best—to win the prize, Rev. Dozo said the success of the church is the excellence of Christian accountability.
Rev. Dr. CP Anto, the secretary of the CFD, spoke about the urgent need to train church leaders and others in peace-building skills such as dialogue, mediation and negotiation so that they may able to prevent and intervene in family, community, and organizations conflicts.
