Kohima, Oct. 19 (EMN): Launching of the golden jubilee cum parents’ day programme of Christ King Higher Secondary School, Kohima, was held on Oct. 18 in the school premises with Rev. Fr. Nazarius Lakra, vice provincial of Salesian Province of Dimapur, and Dr. Neikhrielie Khiamiao, additional director of health and family welfare, as the special guest and guest of honour respectively.
Rev. Fr. Nazarius Lakra, in his jubilee message, applauded the pioneers of the school for preparing the ground for the future of the school. He also mentioned that he is celebrating the golden jubilee of his leaving home in Ranchi, Jharkhand, and landing up in Shillong to begin his journey to priesthood.
The guest speaker also exhorted the students to have strong will power to succeed in life. He cited the examples of Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, who achieved great things because of their strong will power and advised the students to follow their exemplary actions.
The guest of honour, Dr Neikhrielie Khiamiao, an alumnus of the school, took a trip down memory lane as he recollected his past years as a student. He happily narrated how he, along with his mates, used to tease a classmate who had now become a distinguished personality.
The programme also saw the commemoration of 25 years of service to the school by Nelly Solo, assistant teacher, and Ajay, peon, a press release from the school management stated.
Short speeches were also delivered by Fr. Paul, rector and parish priest of Christ King Church, and K Elu Ndang, Naga Hoho assembly secretary, who spoke on behalf of the parents.
The other highlights of the programme were Bible reading, prayer, special number, presentation, dance, choreography, cultural show, instrumental and drama.
The school’s principal Fr. Linus delivered the welcome address, while the vote of thanks was pronounced by Nicholas. The programme concluded with the handing over of jubilee flag and jubilee candle to the principal.
