KOHIMA, JANUARY 22
Harmonic Voices Nagaland (HVN), a progressive professional choir consisting of 15 young Naga musicians from five different tribes of Nagaland will be launching its annual concert under the banner ‘Echoes of Music: Season 1’ on January 24 at the Regional Centre for Excellence in Music & Performing Art (RCEMPA), Jotsoma at 5 pm.
The15-member choir, led by Akhrou Koza as the Choir Director and Mele Pucho as the Managing Director, won The Ultimate Hornbill Choir competition in 2014 and had performed at major music and state events since then.
Interacting with media persons a day ahead of their annual concert at Dream Café Kohima, members of the choir informed that they chose the theme ‘Echoes of Music’ to represent the songs they sing. They said the music that they play, irrespective of time, continues to resound or echo in their hearts and minds, inspiring them in their day to day journey of life, and the concert will represent this essence.
The choir will be performing both gospel and contemporary songs at Sunday’s show, they informed. Members also expressed their wish to continue with the theme in the next season and as they progress further, they hope to incorporate their own compositions to inspire and make their music echo in the hearts of their listeners as well.
The objective of these young musicians coming together as a group is to converge talents from diverse Naga communities to encourage peace and harmony while promoting choral music, to develop full potential in each artist and reach out to global audience and be channels of blessing through choral singing, and also to attain growth in their spiritual lives and be ambassadors of Christ.
The first edition of ‘Echoes of Music’ will start at 5 pm Sunday evening and the choir has requested all to support them and be a part of the concert.
