DIMAPUR — The Chümoukedima Chamber of Commerce and Trade Association (CCC&TA) has issued a warning against ‘illegal, unauthorised and unethical activities’ targeting traders within its jurisdiction.
In a press statement issued on Monday, the association claimed that business unions from other districts and towns have been interfering in Chümoukedima by forcing or threatening local traders to register under their unions.
Terming the practice “ethically wrong,” the CCC&TA condemned the alleged interference and urged the unions concerned to immediately cease such activities.

Reiterating its long-standing opposition to illegal taxation, forced collection, intimidation and threats, the association said that such practices tend to rise during the festive season.
It cautioned any individual or group against indulging in illegal activities, stressing the need to maintain peace and a conducive business environment.
The CCC&TA reaffirmed its endorsement of the principle of “One Government, One Tax,” a resolution adopted during a public rally at Saturday Bazaar in 2014.
It further warned that business establishments found engaging in foul play or paying taxes to individuals or underground groups would face stern action.
Traders were also cautioned against creating artificial price hikes during the festive period.
The association urged business owners to report any discrepancies or misunderstandings to the competent authority without delay and directed all establishments to keep their shops and surroundings clean throughout the season.
