DIMAPUR — The monthly meeting of the Chümoukedima District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) was held on July 10 at DPDB hall, DC’s Office, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Polan John.
Advisor for Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, in his address, thanked the chief secretary and advisor of NSDMA for visiting and inspecting flood-affected areas in Chümoukedima, Medzhiphema, and Dimapur district.
Zhaleo urged departments to prioritise their schemes and programmes, share their action plans, and contribute to the state's welfare, emphasising that collective efforts will make a significant impact.
Minister Jacob Zhimomi reminded that Chümoukedima is known as the ‘Land of opportunities’ and urged officials to work towards creating opportunities for its people.
He emphasised the importance of urban infrastructure and encouraged departments to collaborate, innovate, and support businesses that can drive growth and diversification in the district, calling for a collective effort to achieve this goal.
After reviewing the previous meeting's minutes, the board discussed society registration and agreed to recommend the following societies: Riverine Educational Society (Thilixu village), Western Satoi Public Union (Chekiye Village), and Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Society (Diphupar-B village).

The board also discussed several agendas, including finalising LADP 2025-2026 for 5 Ghaspani-II A/C, creating posts and constructing an office building for the District Agriculture Officer, Chümoukedima, establishing a District Employment Exchange (DEE) in Chümoukedima, and constructing an office building and creating posts for the District Sports Office.
The board agreed to recommend these proposals and forward them to the government for final approval.
The Power department presented their departmental activities focussing on prepaid metering under RDSS and PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijili Yojana Scheme.
A video documentary on Chathe river bed mining conservation, a collaborative initiative by the district administration and stakeholders, was screened during the meeting. The documentary aims to raise public awareness about the consequences of riverbed mining and its future implications.
Niuland: The Niuland DPDB meeting took place on Friday at the DC's conference hall, chaired by Deputy Commissioner and DPDB Vice Chairman, Sara S Jamir.
In her address, the DC announced that the administration will conduct surprise checks on offices once or twice a month, and any office found closed during working hours will be reported to the chief secretary for action. She also reminded that officers who plan to be out of station from the district should apply for leave from DC.
Additionally, Jamir requested officials from RD department to complete all schemes/ projects on stipulated time since the department directly deals with each and every household in the district.

Agendas deliberated and approved during the meeting included Local Area Development Programme (LADP) 2025-2026; request for financial aid for construction of multipurpose yoga hall and laboratory at PHC, Kuhuboto, under LADP Schemes; renewal of society registration ( Murumi Society), upgrade of Abrika Memorial School Zaka from Class 5-8.
The Lead District Manager (LDM SBI) and Rural Development department gave presentations.
Shamator: The Shamator DPDB meeting was held on July 9 at DB’s hall Shamator, chaired by Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman DPDB Shamator, Chubatemjen.
According to a DIPR report, all the DPDB members and officials from relevant departments and representatives from various organisations were present at the meeting.
After reviewing the previous DPDB meeting minutes, the following agendas were discussed:
Representation for change of name from Chessore to Kiusoru; proposal for Police Reserve DEF Shamator; registration of Hop Foundation Welfare Society at Shamator; registration of Lumyin Welfare Society at Chessore; proposal for construction of Government Primary School at Lunthur village, and inclusion of GIA (Grant-in-Aid) at Sotokur village.
The agendas were approved and forwarded to the concerned departments, it stated.
