Chümoukedima District Football Association launches its team jersey for the Dr. T Ao Trophy 2026.

DIMAPUR — Chümoukedima District Football Association (CDFA) launched its team jersey for the Dr. T Ao Trophy 2026 on October 11, with General Secretary of Central Office Bearers (COB), Naga People’s Front (NPF), Neingutuo Rio attending the programme as the special guest.
According to an update, speaking on the occasion, Rio said the CDFA team carries not only the name of a district but also the hopes, aspirations, and sporting pride of its people.
Addressing the broader economic potential of sports, Rio stated that tackling youth unemployment requires looking beyond traditional avenues of employment and recognising sports as an emerging industry with immense potential. He observed that football has grown far beyond the boundaries of a playing field to become a global industry that generates revenue, promotes tourism, attracts investment, and creates diverse employment opportunities.
He pointed out that the sports industry offers career opportunities not only for professional players and coaches but also for sports managers, physiotherapists, fitness trainers, sports journalists, event organisers, and entrepreneurs.
Rio stressed that the government, sports associations, private businesses, and civil society must work collectively to develop sporting infrastructure, establish professional training systems, organise competitive leagues, and encourage private investment in sports.
He further stated that government support should extend beyond the construction of stadiums to building a sustainable sports economy that generates livelihoods and enables young people to pursue their ambitions and build successful careers within Nagaland.
Rio called upon entrepreneurs and the private sector to view sports not merely as an expense or form of entertainment but as a meaningful investment in young people and the future economy of Nagaland.
