Polan John calls for coordinated anti-drug efforts, stricter monitoring of de-addiction centres and stronger youth-focused awareness initiatives.
DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Chümoukedima, Polan John, has called for coordinated and sustained efforts by all concerned departments to strengthen the district’s anti-drug campaign.
Addressing a review meeting at his chamber on September 24, John directed departments to submit reports on activities undertaken, which would be compiled and reviewed in subsequent meetings to ensure effective follow-up.
He stressed the need to identify and verify illegal or unauthorised de-addiction and rehabilitation centres in accordance with Central government guidelines, and to take appropriate action against centres failing to meet the prescribed criteria.
The meeting also reviewed Drug-Free Campus initiatives.
The DC suggested conducting focused awareness programmes in selected schools and forming drug awareness clubs involving students and teachers.
He further called for greater youth engagement through sports and other constructive activities, and urged departments to ensure proper utilisation of resources and materials provided under National Narcotics Control initiatives.
John emphasised that continued inter-departmental coordination and timely reporting would be essential for effective implementation and monitoring of anti-drug activities.
