- DIMAPUR — The Office of the Chümoukedima
District Auto Drivers' Union (CDADU) has directed all auto-rickshaw drivers
operating within Chümoukedima district to wear a prescribed uniform, with
pocket badges available from the head office during office hours from 10am to
1pm on weekdays.
- An update from the office stated that it has been observed
that many auto-rickshaw drivers in Chümoukedima district do not adhere to any
uniform code, leading to a lack of professionalism and difficulty in
identifying authorised drivers.
- The union also encouraged drivers to follow traffic rules
and carry their identification cards at all times. Inspection, verification,
and checking of uniforms and identification cards will be conducted
periodically. CDADU also warned drivers driving under the influence of alcohol
or any other drugs that stern action will be taken against them.
- The initiative, it said, aims to make it easier for
passengers to identify licensed and registered drivers, enhancing their sense
of security.
